Migration from V3.0 to V3.1

This section describes how to migrate to Denbun POP V3.1P R1.0.

The message storage space has been changed in Denbun POP V3.1P R1.0.
If you upgrade from V3.0 to V3.1, you have to migrate the mail data.

Before migration...
  1. This guide describes how to migrate from Denbun POP V3.0P R1.1 to Denbun POP V3.1P R1.0
If you use the lower than V3.0P R1.1, please upgrade it to V3.0P R1.1, and then follow the procedure of this guide.
  2. Make sure no access to the Denbun.
If you use Automatic Receive, terminate the batch for Automatic Receive.
With the task manager, you can choose the scheduler (dnpscheduler.exe) and automatic receive (dnpemlautorecv.exe) and use "End Process" to stop the process.
  3. Stop anti-virus and other similar Software beforehand.
Message files which was created by the migration process could be deleted by anti-virus and other mimilar Software.
In this caes, the messages will not be migrated normally.
  4. Backup all the modules and database of Denbun.
    Please refer here about backup.
  5. Please make sure hard drive space.
To migrate mail data, it requires 1.5 times as many as the data folder of PostgreSQL.
Please make sure there is enough hard drive space.
The size of the data folder becomes small because it deletes mail data from PostgreSQL's data folder.
    <Example of PostgreSQL's data folder>
     - Windows: C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\data\base
     - Linux: /var/pgsql/data/base
  6. About rough time estimation for the migration process.
The following is the rough time estimation on how long each procedure of the migration takes.
    [Measurement environment]
    OS: Windwos Server 2008 R2
    CPU: Intel Xeon E5410 (2.33GHz 4C) * 1
    Memory: 8GB
    Disk: 273GB RAID 0 (146.8GB SAS 10Kprm * 2)
    [Migration data]
    Number of Users: 2,000 Users
    Number of Messages: 500,000 Messages
    PostgreSQL's data folder: 100GB
    Measurement Results
Step 1. Take Backup Approx. 5 Hours
Step 3. Migrate Mail Data Approx. 6 Hours
Step 5. Delete Source Data Approx. 2 Hours
Step 6. Reclaim Unnecessary Space in PostgreSQL Approx. 1 Hour
